Today, we have a 2020 Grand Design Momentum, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Kodiak Disc Brakes for 7,000-pound axles. From the factory, your Momentum is going to come with your traditional-style drum brakes. And when you get into a camper of this size or a trailer of this size, the drum brakes really are not. They're not gonna work very well because when drum brakes get very hot, they don't like to work properly, that's where our disc brakes come in. They're gonna stay cooler, they're gonna provide better braking, and ultimately give you more comfort when you're traveling down the road. more

Hydrastar Brake Kit Installation - 2017 Grand Design Momentum 5W Toy Hauler- Video
Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Hydrastar disc brake kit for triple axles. Now one of the biggest issues, which you may already know if you're watching this video, is that big RV's like this one weighing in at 16,500 pounds dry, that's before any fuel in the fuel tank, any water in the tanks, anything inside of it, this one is a toy hauler, the normal electric brakes, the drum brakes, are not really adequate for stopping this size of a vehicle. This vehicle itself has a GVWR of 21,000 pounds, so that's a lot of weight. The disc brakes are going to perform way better than your standard drum brakes. A drum brakes, the biggest problem with them is that they get really hot, and they do not like to cool down because they're all contained inside the drum. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the DeeMaxx Disc Brakes on our 2015 JAYCO Pinnacle Fifth Wheel Trailer. Now, the biggest reason why you would wanna swap over to a set of disc brakes, rather than your standard drum brakes, on a rig like we have here is because you need a little bit more stopping power. Drum brakes do an okay job of bringing your camper and your truck to a full stop. But as you'll see later on in this video it takes much longer, because the drum brakes is such an old style of applying the brakes in a trailer. Disc brakes are going to provide a much more sound stop. more

Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit Installation - 5th Wheel- Video
Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install, the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust trailer brakes. These are going to be an electric trailer brake to replace your drum brakes that are on your trailer. It's gonna be a direct factory replacement. It's a 12 inch brake assembly, so you'll have to have a 12 inch drum if you plan on using your old drums. I do highly recommend taking a look at your drums once you get them removed. more

DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit Installation - 2020 Keystone Montana Fifth Wheel- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the D-MAX Disc Brakes for 7,000 pound axles with 13 inch rotors on a 2020 Keystone Montana. Now what kind of sets these apart is definitely gonna be the rotor design and you're gonna notice right away we have these holes here on our hat of the rotor. And what makes that a little bit more unique than your typical one is not only is it gonna cool because that heat is gonna be able to kind of dissipate through those holes, but also it's really important for anyone that does any marine usage of their trailer or even driving an inclement weather where water kind of gets caught in the backside of this. And the problem with other rotors is that water just kind of spins around and as you park, it's gonna sit at the bottom and if you park your trailer for a while that's gonna eat away at that rotor and this actually allows it for it to drain out. Another great part about this is when they're able to put the coating on the rotor, it gets nice and uniform, there's no drip marks, so again you get a little bit more uniformity and overall better quality. Now what also sets these apart and really comes down to being heavy duty is gonna be a robust caliper design. more

With this, since it has Nev-R-Lube axles, we're also going to be replacing the hub and bearing assembly for that as well. You can get all these parts here at etrailer. So I just wanted to show you a quick look between our old assembly and our new. You can see all the corrosion that we've got occurred inside of this one that can cause it to stick and drag and not operate it smoothly and also can cause some noise. more

When you have a trailer this size, you can see it's a triple axle, we want and we need maximum braking power. What normally comes on these trailers is drum brakes. Adding a hydraulic kit to it is going to give you better braking power, so that you're able to stop this size of a trailer. This kit is going to be designed for triple axle trailers with 7,000 pound axles. more

Hi there Solitude owners. Today in your 2017 Grand Design Solitude, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install, Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brake Kit.This is a tandem axle kit. So it's going to provide you with everything that you'll need to get two axles setup and switched over from your old electronic brakes to your hydraulic disc brakes. This includes your rotors and bearings to get those on, your calipers and caliper mounting brackets, that will go where your old backing plate was for your drum brakes set up.In addition to that, you're also going to receive your hydraulic lines and hoses and all the fittings necessary to get all of the plumbing and fluid routed to each caliper. Each of your calipers will come loaded with brake pads, so they're already going to be in place ready to slide onto your rotor when you get it on. And you'll receive a high pressure hydraulic actuator for your calipers, and we're going to have that installed up at the front.Here's your typical drum brake electric system that you would have on your trailer. more

etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes Installation on a 2017 Grand Design Reflection Fifth Wheel- Video
Hi there trailer owners, today on your 2017 Grand Design Reflection, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install etrailer's Electric Trailer Brake Kit. This is what your brake assembly is going to look like once you've got installed.Some of the features on this assembly that really stand out to me that make it better than some of the competitors is the shoes that are located on each side. They're going to be fully bonded shoes, so there're no rivets. Some of the other shoe manufacturers out there we'll place rivets that hold the friction material on. And the problem with the rivets, it does hold the pads on very nicely. But when your shoes wear down, eventually the material is going to wear it down into the rivets, which can then dig into your drum assembly and destroy the entire drum assembly with the bonded pads here, the material will wear down and it'll have to get all the way down to the metal here before that would happen. more
